On June 8, 10, 11 and 15, Transparência Brasil will hold workshops on the relationship between access to information and other rights, as freedom of the press, access to public services and privacy and data protection. The events will be online from 2 PM-3 PM UTC and are part of the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), co-organized by TB, the Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) and the Office of the Comptroller General of Distrito Federal.
Aimed at representatives of civil society, activists and academics, the workshops serve as preparation for the Side Meeting of Civil Society at ICIC, scheduled for 21.Jun.2021, from 2 PM-4 PM UTC. Each day will be dedicated to a theme:
- June 8, 2PM-3PM UTC: Access to information and freedom of the press
- June 10, 2PM-3PM UTC: Access to information and public services delivery
- June 11, 2PM-3PM UTC: Data protection, privacy and access to information
- June 15, 2PM-3PM UTC: To be defined (ongoing online voting)
Register online to participate in the workshops and the Side Event.
The goal is to define, at the end of each meeting, a set of common demands from civil society in relation to each theme. During the Side Meeting, on June 21, the demands will be submitted for the approval of all workshops participants to compose a document addressed to the Information Commissioners, to be made public.
The theme of the 4th workshop is open for definition up to June 9, through an online voting. The options were presented by civil society, activists and academics.
The others workshops themes were chosen through a consultation among civil society throughout May. 31 participants from at least 10 countries voted in up to three options among the themes that will be addressed in the ICIC’s open sessions and workshops.
Voting results for the topics of the first three workshops
